FAQ

  • How does dress rental work?
Simply browse our collection, select your desired dress, choose your rental period (this needs to be confirmed with us prior to booking), and complete the booking process online.
  • Can I try a dress on before I hire it?
Yes, absolutely! Try-on appointments are recommended and can be booked on the website. Contact us via social media or the contact page to confirm a time before booking. Appointments cost $10 and this fee gives you 30 minutes in the try-on space, to try on as many dresses as you like. The $10 fee is deductible from your hire fee if you hire a dress on the day.
  • Do I need to clean the dress?
No, we will handle all the cleaning. Please do not attempt to clean your dress under any circumstances. This may result in unexpected damage to the delicate fabric and incur additional costs for repair or replacement.
  • How long is the dress hire period?
The dress hire period is 4 days. This allows you to receive your dress at least a day before your event, and to return the dress the next business day after (generally the Monday morning after a weekend hire). Extended hires can be arranged upon request for an additional fee.
  • Can I have my dress hire posted?
Yes! we post all over Australia via express post. It is recommended to place your order at least 4 days before the event. This will allow enough time to ensure that your dress arrives before your event. Australia Post express times are estimated at 1-3 days. All postal hires include a prepaid return satchel. If you need a dress urgently, in-person pick-up is recommended.
  • How does pick up work?
Pick-up is available for all dresses and is located in the Melbourne south-eastern suburb of Keysborough. The exact pick up location will be provided to you after you make your booking. If you pick up your dress, it will be given to you on a hanger in a protective dress bag. It is recommended that the dress is hung up in the protective bag when you get it home, to prevent unnecessary creasing and keep the garment clean. Please return the dress in the bag with the hanger provided the next business day after your event.
  • What happens if I accidentally damage a dress?
You will be financially liable for any damage incurred during your hire period. This may result in The Runway Edit retaining your bond to cover additional cleaning or repairs. If the damage is extensive and results in the dress being unsuitable for re-hire, the retail cost of the dress must be paid by you.
  • Do I need to pay a bond?
Yes. All hires require a security bond which is determined by the retail cost of the dress. The bond is held in the case damage is incurred during the rental period that requires additional cleaning and repair. The bond will be returned to you within 24 hours of the hire return, as long as the dress is returned in its original condition. If damage to the dress is extensive or the dress requires replacement, the bond will be held by us and additional costs may also be payable.
  • Why do you require a photo ID?
A photo ID is required for all hires. This protects The Runway Edit against any fraudulent hires or theft of property. Your photo ID will only be held during your hire period and destroyed once the hire has been returned to us.
  • How do I return my hire dress?
If you pick up your dress in person, you are required to return the dress in person the next business day following your event. If your dress was posted to you, a prepaid return satchel will be included in your package. Simply place your dress in the satchel and drop it in any Auspost box that is YELLOW. Do not place it in the RED box, as this is for regular postal items only not express. Alternatively, you can take it into an Auspost store and lodge it.
  • The dress arrived with some creases in it, what do I do?
The best way to remove creasing is to hang your dress up in the bathroom while you shower and the steam will do the work. However, please ensure that you do not get the dress wet. Do not attempt to iron your dress. This may result in damage to the fabric and incur additional costs to you.
  • How far in advance can i book my dress?
You can book up to 6 months in advance. It is recommended to try on the dress before booking to ensure it fits correctly. It is also recommended to start your booking the day before your event.
